Important Note about Updating Your Template: First and most important, ALWAYS perform a full backup before updating your template. Its better to be safe than sorry. To update, simply download the updated file from Theme Forest (its free, just go to your Downloads section) and upload to overwrite the existing template files. Once you have uploaded the changes, you need to go to Theme Settings and RE-SAVE YOUR SETTINGS. This will ensure the new features are used correctly. Do note that this will not change any of your previous settings. Those will be saved from your previous setup.
You can find the complete record of updates within the Change Log, found at the bottom of this help file.

It truly is simple. You just upload your images through the default WordPress Media Gallery, select your desired Gallery-type and layout style, click "Publish" and they're instantly ready and viewable!

Inside the zip you've downloaded from ThemeForest, you will find the following:
To upload the template to your WordPress website, you'll need either to access your server space via FTP or Web Manager and install the "kingsize" template to the following path (we're using FileZilla):
WordPress Directory: > wp-contents > themes > [upload the KingSize zipped folder here]
Once you've uploaded the zipped folder, you'll be required to unpack the folder and the contents within in so WordPress can interact with those files stored inside the folder.
Good news
Note: It is not required to be uploaded as a zip, but does speed up the process while uploading since its compressed and in a smaller format. Unpacking the template automatically creates the folder "kingsize" with all the corresponding files necessary.
Once uploaded to wp-contents > themes > [kingsize folder here] you will need to log into your WordPress dashboard, locate the "Appearance" from the left-hand sidebar and click the "Themes" option. Here you'll be able to activate the newly installed template, KingSize.
If you do not see the template available via Appearance > Themes, than you may wish to recheck the upload you've completed and make sure you've unzipped the folder KingSize.
The express install can be found inside the "Documentation" folder you've downloaded from Theme Forest. This express setup is in the format of an ".xml" file, locate the file:
Import File: express-setup.xml [located in the "Documentation" folder]
With this file, you can create an express setup which will give you an end result that looks exactly like the demo you've seen prior to purchasing the template. This xml file will allow you to re-create exactly what it is we've already created on the demo and gives you a head start on getting your website setup and ready to use so you can edit and manage it.
If you've never imported an .xml install, you can follow these quick simple steps:
Good news
Note: Once you've installed your XML Express Setup, you want to go to Appearance > Menus and assign the new Main Menu to the Header Menu option for these items to display in the navigation. Also note that in order to include the "Menu Subtitles" / "Descriptions" beneath each menu item, you have to click the Screen Options tab at the top and checkmark the option for Descriptions.
At this point, your website should now take the form you've seen available in our demo.
Located at the bottom of your WordPress Dashboard sidebar, you'll find "KingSize WP". It is this area that you'll use to customize the following mentioned below.
You have two options, the first is to upload an image directly from your computer and the second is to paste the URL of the image you want to use for your logo.
The specific size for this logo area is "220 (w) by 200 (h)". For best quality results, its suggested you try and stay within those mentioned sizes although is of course optional.
For the purpose of the allotted space available, Timthumb has been included for the logo resizing.
Here you will want to upload an image that will be assigned to all pages, sections and posts as your default Global Background. This background image can be changed per page and post by using the Write-Panel option present when editing / creating a new page or post. If you are not using the Homepage Background Slider, this image will become your homepage background.
Following this option you've the ability to enable or disable the Background Grid Overlay. This will help darken the background images on all pages / posts other than your homepage to keep the readers focus on the content rather than the background image.
Good news
Important Reminder to set the folder permissions mentioned beneath here to 777:
/wp-content/themes/kingsize/cache
/wp-content/themes/kingsize/images/upload
Forgetting the set these folder permissions will result in images not displaying properly on your website.
This next option allows you to pre-set various options related to your Background Slider. In order to use the homepage background slider, you must first ensure its enabled and have uploaded first some images via the Background Slider option beneath the menu item "KingSize WP". If no background images are present the slider will not work. From this point, follow the instructions provided in the tooltip next to each option by mousing over the "Help / Question-mark" icons.
Here you'll have some options available to you for controlling features involved with the Navigation Menu, such as: "Enabling the Hide / Show" functionality, "Enabling or disabling the Tooltip" when mousing over the hide / show arrow, as well the ability to include custom Tooltip Messages for when in the mouse-over state.
These options are related directly to Pages and Posts within KingSize WordPress. You've options such as "Enabling Blog Excerpts" or "Enabling Full Contents", as well things like "Enabling / Disabling the Sidebars", "Enabling the Widget Ready Footer", customizing the "Read more..." text shown after post excerpts, and even the option to enable comments beneath your Portfolio / Galleries.
Please note: When enabling comments for your Portfolio, this still requires you enabling the comments from within that page. If comments for your pages / posts are not already enabled, you need to locate the Screen Options at the top of the page, click this and it will expand. Once clicked, locate the option for "Discussions" and checkmark the box beside it. This step does require two steps to complete.
You'll have the option set the colors for text, headings, menu items, mouse over effects, active menu items, tooltip messages, background overlays and etc. As well, each of these options includes a help icon beside it which can be hovered over for helpful tips.
Here is where you'll enter the email address associated with the default Contact Page template we've included with KingSize. Just enter the desired email address you would like to use when people are contacting you. Keep in mind, this contact form includes a hidden field designed for spammers that helps prevent the receiving of spam messages.
Next you've the option to include a "Contact Success Message" which will be shown only after successfully completing the contact submission form. You can override the default by entering your message manually here and clicking save at the bottom or top.
To include a copyright inside the footer of your website, enter your details here and save.
Currently there is the ability to include up to 23 social networks inside your small footer at the bottom of the website. By entering in the URL associated with your Social Networks, they will automatically appear in the frontend of the website at the very bottom. We have also included the ability for you to preview the icons prior to using them.
For example, to activate the "Twitter" social network, type in http://www.twitter.com/username.
Where there are no URLs typed in, these social networks will not be displayed on the website.
Here you are able to insert coding into the header if necessary by inserting the code.
Following the
, you've also the ability to include your Google Analytics code by pasting it into the Google Analytics text area. This will automatically be included in all the pages, posts and sections throughout your website so you can start tracking your visitors. To enable your Homepage Background Slider, make sure that inside the Theme Settings, you've already enabled this feature.
From this point, beneath the KingSize WP menu option you will see "Background Slider", you'll want to select this option and follow the instructions below to get your slider setup and customized the way you want it...
When inside the "Background Slider" section, at the very top you will see the option to "Choose File" and when clicked will open a new window that allows you to select from your desktop (or anywhere within your computer) the images you want used within the slider. Now select the image and click "Open" once you've decided which image you want used. You can upload a maximum of 10 at a time.
Now that you've uploaded those images, you probably want to organize them to display in the order you want. So from top to bottom, the rotation is in this order. You can easily drag and drop those images in the order you want at which point once dropped into place they are automatically saved in that order. You can re-order these images at anytime you wish, simply by repeating these steps.
Now if you want to manage the direction, transition types, intrevals (in seconds) or to disable the background slider, you just need to head back to the "General Theme Settings" and scroll down till you see the section titled "Homepage Background Slider Preferences" and make the changes you desire to see made. Each option has beside it a helpful tooltip when mousing over the questionmark icon.
To disable the slider just go into the General Theme Settings and uncheck the enabled slider box. You will want to make sure that the "Global Background Preferences" has an image uploaded and saved as this will become your static single background image on the homepage. With no image assigned here as your background, the homepage will by default show a black and unoccupted background.
Since the release of WordPress 3.0, creating menus has never been so easy. You can drag, drop and organize your menus with complete ease. Even link outside your website to other site URLs.
If you've never before used the WordPress Custom Menus, we've created a tutorial to assist you with the setup of your KingSize menu.
Please refer to this video for further assistance setting up.
By default, this template supports one menu, which is the "Header" menu.
To get started, log into your Dashboard, locate "Appearance" in the sidebar and beneath that you will find "Menus". Here is where you will create the menu.
Create a new menu called "Main Menu", then click save. Once saved, you'll want to assign that menu to the header by using the options left of this area, titled "Theme Options". If you've used the express install method, you can see this menu has already been created and setup for you.
To include a description, at the top click "Screen Options", under this check the "Description" option.
This template comes with 2 widget ready sidebars and 1 widget ready footer. To include widgets, locate the area titled "Appearance" in your sidebar and select the "Widgets" from that menu selection.
Inside "Widgets" you will see a sidebar area titled "Main Blog Sidebar" and it is this sidebar that will appear throughout your website where specified. You just need to use the desired widgets of your choice, drag and drop into this area, then click save and you're done.
Inside Theme Settings "KingSize WP" you can disable the sidebar for a full width blog post and archives if you wish not to use the sidebar.
This widget area is designed for your Contact Page. When you assigned the Page Template "Contact", its here this sidebar will be active. You can either use the custom widget we've included to insert your "additional contact details", or add other widgets of your choice to this area by dragging and dropping them into this sidebar.
Here you'll find 3 widget ready areas designed for your footer. Each specific to the footer, one is designed for the left, another for the center and lastly the right footer column. You can also disable this footer section via Theme Settings > "KingSize WP" at anytime.
Alike with the other widgets, you can drag and drop the desired widgets you wish to use.
To enable the KingSize Twitter widget in your sidebar, you need to go to "Appearance" > "Widgets" and locate the appropriate titled widget there. Now left click to drag and drop into the appropriate sidebar desired. Once selected, the widget will expand automatically asking you for some details to finalize the setup. You'll be required to provide:
To enable the KingSize Gallery widget in your sidebar, you need to go to "Appearance" > "Widgets" and locate the appropriate titled widget there. Now left click to drag and drop into the appropriate sidebar desired. Once selected, the widget will expand automatically asking you for some details to finalize the setup. You'll be required to provide:
To create your blog section within KingSize WordPress, you just need to follow these simple steps:
First you'll need to go "Add a New Page" via the WordPress Dashboard and title it "Blog" or whatever it is you wish it to be called. From this point, look to the right side of your page and you'll see an area titled "Page Attributes" and beneath here you'll see the option to select a page "Template". From this list, you want to select the "Blog Template and click Publish / Update.
At this point, if you view the new page you created, automatically all posts made will be displayed within this Blog Page. Now assigning this to your menu is rather easy. Head head over to "Appearance" > "Menus" and assign the page you've created to your menu and place it wherever you'd like it displayed in the menu navigation bar. From that point, any published blog entries / posts will be displayed here.
When creating a new post that you want associated with your blog, just select the category "Blog" for this entry to appear in and whenever someone visits this area of your website they'll see that and all the other posts / entries associated with that category.
To include a featured image in your blog article, use the "Featured Image" to assign one when creating your new post. This will automatically be displayed within the blog archives.
Inside your "Add New / Edit Posts" area, you will see beneath the contents area, a place known as the "write-panel". This area includes the ability for you to upload a new background image you want associated with that specific post. This will then override the default background image you previously setup in the Theme Options.
If you do not want to upload an image but rather enter a URL to a background image of your choice, just enter the URL to that image in the text area and it'll appear when saved.
Included are 5 different Gallery Templates and with 3 of those galleries includes 4 style options that can be assigned to the individual gallery when used. These do require being created in "Pages" and is not available through the use of "Posts", only pages.
There are 5 galleries types included. These are (preview the live demo):
To select a gallery, you need to create a "New Page" and inside this New Page, you'll see the option to assign a "Template" specific to this page. This is located to the right, is directly beneath the "Publish / Update" button in the area titled "Page Attributes".
Now using this drop-down menu, you will see a variety of options here to be used with your new Page being created. Select the desired gallery type from the available selections here.
Included with 3 of these gallery types, is 4 different layout styles to choose:
Selecting these layout styles will ONLY apply to your galleries when you've selected the Page Template it corresponds with. So even though you may have selected [i.e.,] 2 columns, if no portfolio type is selected it will not work.
We've decided to make use of the native WordPress Media Gallery for displaying your photos and images. It involves less work, less steps and faster end results...
To add your images, you just need to locate the "Upload / Insert" area at the top of your "Add New Page", and just beneath the "Title" area of that page. You'll see beside this upload area, 4 small icons that when clicked will open a new window in lightbox.
Click the first icon (looks like a picture frame) and this will allow you to attach / upload new media (image) files directly from your computer. You can also select more than just one image at a time by dragging your mouse and selecting multiple images at once.
Once you have uploaded your images click "Save", and then exit out of the lightbox window. *DO NOT INSERT THESE IMAGES INTO YOUR POST AFTER UPLOADING* otherwise you will notice you have two types of galleries displaying in the Gallery Page you've just created. Remove the inserted gallery if you've done this.
Now that you've uploaded those images, just close out of that lightbox window. Remember, do not insert those images. The way we have designed this template is it will automatically take those images you've uploaded and display them in the page you've created. If your seeing two types of images on your page, one looks like our demo while the other does not, this means you have inserted the gallery. Go to your post, in the "Content Editor" remove that inserted gallery / image and publish / update.
We've also created a video tutorial for uploading and attaching images to help as a visual aid.
You can manage your images through the "Media Gallery". Just return to the page you've created for your gallery and click the picture frame icon beside "Upload / Insert" and this will load the lightbox window once more. Inside here, you will see an area at the top titled "Gallery" and should display a number beside it representing the number of images you've attached.
Click this Gallery tab and you'll be shown all the images related to this specific page.
Once you see the images, you can drag and drop those images in the specific order you'd like them to appear in the frontend of your website. You can also click the "show" link to edit the titles, descriptions and details pertaining to those specific images in that gallery.
Watch the video tutorial for a visual explanation of managing and editing your photos.
Just as you did with the posts inside your blog, you can create and assign a specific background image on all pages created. Either select the option to "upload" an image or enter the URL to the image you wish to use as your background for this specific page. Inserting a background image using the "write-panel" will allow you to override the default background you set up previously in the Theme Options. These changes will only affect the specific pages you assign those custom backgrounds to and nowhere else.
Inside your WordPress Dashboard, in the left-hand sidebar you will see the "Portfolio" menu option. Click this and you will have the option to view all "Portfolio" items, "Add New" portfolio items, and create "Portfolio Categories" that you can use to organize the different type of portfolios you wish to display on your site. This also enables you the ability to create multiple portfolios and assigning categories.
That’s it. It’s pretty simple. Now click the "Publish" or "Update" button to complete your changes.
So now you've successfully added a Portfolio item(s), you'll want to learn how to display those items. To do this, you need to create a new page using the page template "Portfolio". Once you create a Portfolio Page, you just simply assign which category for your Portfolios you want displayed and the rest is done automatically. See the below steps for instructions:
If you want text to show above your portfolios, when creating this page, just add the text to the contents box / editor and that text will display above the portfolios as shown in the demonstration.
Once you have created this page, you’ll want to link it to your menu / navigation. To do this, go to "Appearance" > "Menus" and add the new page you just created to your navigation. Add a brief description if desired, click save and once done you should be able to see the new item in your menu.
When creating a page or post you will see in the top of your toolbar an icon that resembles a unicorn, black in color surrounded by a white background. By clicking this, you can select from one of the available Shortcodes and insert them automatically into your pages and posts.

Often asked is "how do I make pretty links" which is also referred to as "Permalinks". To do this, it's important you start your site with permalink structure prior to making posts and pages. Otherwise, it's going to be a difficult task having to re-create those link permalink structures.
Log into your dashboard, go to "Settings", find "Permalinks" and edit the structure to look like:
/%category%/%postname%/
If this is not the structure you want, you can learn more about Permalinks visiting WordPress:
King Size does support the use of Featured Images in your Blog postings. Referring to the demo, you can see in the blog archive there is a featured image being displayed. To do this you need to:
Here's the official documentation: http://codex.wordpress.org/Appearance_Menus_SubPanel
Kingsize makes available a write-panel option in both "pages" and "posts" that allows you the ability to override the default global background previously set via Theme Options. This means that on any individual page and/or post, you can have a unique background specific to its use.
To include a background, scroll down beneath the contents of your post and you'll see an area titled "Override the default Background" with the option to either "enter a URL" or to "Upload a background directly from your computer".
Once you've inserted your URL for the background image, or uploaded an image from your computer, complete the remainder of your entry and once ready, click "Publish / Update". At this point, the background once saved will automatically override the global background assigned earlier through the Theme Options panel.
For complete documentation, view the official guide provided on behalf of WordPress, by visiting:
http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Themes
and follow the documentation here.
When inserting your gallery, there is an option that asks "Link Thumbnails To", you'll want to change this from "Attachment Page" to use "Image File" instead. This will allow for the lightbox effect to work. Otherwise, images will load in a new page.
When inserting single images, just insert the image into your post and make sure its linked to the image. This will automatically apply the lightbox effect to those images inserted into your post.
One of the more common issues being reported. This is due to a mistake you've made, not at fault of our template. You are trying to upload the ENTIRE zipped folder you downloaded from Theme Forest. This is NOT correct. You need to open that folder you've downloaded and inside you will see another folder titled "Template v3", it is this folder you will find INSIDE the actual template. Either upload as a zip and extract on your server, or extract on your desktop and upload as a whole to the /themes/ directory.
CSS is contained in style.css file (root folder of theme). Styles for Internet Explorer are contained in stylesIE.css (for IE8, IE7), stylesIE7.css (for IE7) (/css folder). There are also 3 additional CSS files - prettyPhoto.css (for prettyPhoto plugin), jquery.fancybox-1.3.1.css (for FancyBox plugin) and colorbox.css(for Colorbox plugin) - all situated in /css folder. CSS for Galleria is in /js/galleria folder (galleria.classic.css) and slideViewer styles plugins are situated in style.css in the Gallery styles section.
Sections are separated with the comments like:
/* ========= General Styles ========== */If you would like to edit a specific section of the site, simply find the appropriate label in the CSS file, and then scroll down until you find the appropriate style that needs to be edited.
Javascript files are situated in /js folder of the theme. They are enqueued in the theme in functions.php file.

KingSize WordPress will continue to grow over time and here we've included a complete change log of all those advancements we do take. We want you to be as informed as possible, while being able to take advantage of all the updates as we release them.
IMPORTANT: Be sure to BACKUP your website when making updates. We cannot be held responsible for any losses.
If you would like, we'd recommend downloading something similar to "Deltopia DeltaWalker" to compare file changes. This is a very handy program when viewing documents / files to compare changes between the two files. It also makes carrying those changes over very simple, highlighting what is new and giving the option to carry those new changes over. Recommended to ease updating your changes.
IMPORTANT: After updating your version of KingSize, be sure to go to General / Theme Settings and RE-SAVE the settings so any new changes can take place. This will not cause any loss of the old saved settings, rather just applying those which are new.
Version 1 was the original template released. A few minor bugs were reported and fixed for the release of version 2.
No major changes other than some backend adjustments, fixed a few reported bugs. Due to a faulty overwrite, we lost the change-log.
We have made quite a fix changes in this release. Including an important one, updating the Timthumb script to the most current and stable version. Below here you will find a detailed list of all the changes we have introduced in this version.
